10 Horror Movies Ruined By Bad CGI

9. Sound Of Thunder

Sound of Thunder takes place in a future where the company, Time Safari, has mastered time travel. The organisation's CEO, Charles Hatton (played by a ridiculously wigged Ben Kingsley), allows clients to travel in the past to hunt dinosaurs for fun. But after the timestream is disrupted, the past starts to bleed into the present, forcing the scientists at Time Safari to reverse it to save humanity.

Now, Sound of Thunder has a terrific premise. The original short story, written by Ray Bradbury, was so successful, it helped popularise the concept of the Butterfly Effect. But despite its fascinating story, the film is let down by atrocious special effects (and Ben Kingsley's wig).

Here's a tip for Hollywood movies: if dinosaurs play a big part in the story, make sure the animators know how to render dinosaurs! The Allosaurus that the time-travellers encounter looks so appalling, you would swear it was from a cutscene from a Playstation 1 game.

What's more bewildering is this film came out 12 years after Jurassic Park and yet, the dinosaurs somehow look ten times worse!
