10 Horror Movies Shot From The Killer’s Perspective
4. American Psycho
American Psycho is an especially interesting example given that, while we see events unfold from the perspective of apparent serial killer Patrick Bateman (Christian Bale), doubt is increasingly cast on the reliability of that perspective as the film trudges on.
All the same, from Bateman's endlessly verbose narrated diatribes about his own lifestyle to the utterly deranged sights we witness from his viewpoint later on - such as an ATM begging him to feed it a stray cat - it is nothing if not a vividly manic plunge into the mind of a deeply disturbed individual.
We're with Bateman all the way, and while he's an undeniably grotesque character, Christian Bale's frankly Oscar-worthy performance makes it easy to stay glued to the screen throughout the wild ride.
Given that Brett Easton Ellis' controversial source novel was largely deemed unfilmable upon release, that this adaptation captures its unhinged essence while delivering a note-perfect rendition of its unconscionable protagonist is a major artistic triumph.
