10 Horror Movies Shot From The Killer’s Perspective
5. Saw X
The Saw franchise has generally unfolded from the perspective of its victims, who are forced to prove their will to live by solving macabre life-or-death traps - most often with horrific results.
But Saw X marked a major departure from the series' formula by training its focus almost exclusively on the Jigsaw Killer himself, John Kramer (Tobin Bell).
Set between the first two movies, it follows Kramer as he heads to Mexico to undergo an experimental procedure to cure his terminal cancer, only to learn that he's been scammed.
And so, Saw X quite brilliantly transforms Kramer from antagonist to protagonist, for while he's still an inherently monstrous person, in this case his ire is aimed directly at those who took advantage of him and other sick people.
This time we're not really rooting for most - if any - of the victims to survive, but for Kramer to enact gory revenge on all those complicit in the medical scam.
It was a clever way to flip the script, and coming so deep into the long-tired franchise, finally made Saw feel relevant again.
