10 Horror Movies That Actually Benefitted From Bad Acting

M. Night Shyamalan's films are usually a coin toss. You either end up with something unique and creative, or you get a really bad film.

Unfortunately for audiences, Old falls into the latter category, which is a shame because the premise is interesting. A group of people trapped on a beach that rapidly ages them sounds like instant gold, and yet the film is filled with stilted and wooden acting that makes for an odd experience.

Numerous lines in the film are intended to scare audiences but end up simply being funny due to the actors' delivery of them. We see this from Rufus Sewell's movie trivia monologue in the middle of an operation to Mid-Sized Sedan's dull surprise at seeing a recent corpse turn into a skeleton. And while the dialogue itself can be clunky and unwieldy, the actors' weird and stilted delivery makes entire scenes more bizarre than they should be.

But the bad acting combined with Shyamalan's unrealistic dialogue has led to Old being compared to his works on The Lady in the Water and The Happening. At the same time, the oddball performances of these actors manage to add their own off-kilter charm to Old.
