10 Horror Movies That Brutally Punish Survivors

6. Tommy Jarvis - Friday The 13th: The Final Chapter

Dawn Of The Dead 2004 Sarah Polley
Paramount Pictures

Franchise favourite Tommy Jarvis survived the onslaught of Jason Voorhees in Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter, but at what cost?

Played by Corey Feldman in this 1984 offering, Tommy actually ends up killing Jason in a frenzied attack that sees the youngster lose his mind.

Chillingly butchering his own hair to give him a resemblance to Jason as a boy, Jarvis violently, maniacally, erratically carves up Jason with machete slice after machete slice. Like, seriously, this is one of cinema's most "he's already dead" moments, with Tommy just brutalizing the fallen Voorhees over and over again while screaming "Die!" at the top of his lungs.

The Final Chapter ends with Tommy giving his sister a hug as he eerily stares directly into the camera. And from there, the following year's Friday the 13th: A New Beginning picks things up with a psychologically scarred Jarvis (John Shepherd) who is permanently on edge.

Skip ahead even further, Friday the 13th Part VI: Jason Lives has an obsessed Tommy Jarvis (Tom Mathews) digging up the corpse of Jason in order to make sure he's dead - which stupidly leads to the decaying body of Voorhees being brought back to life after being hit by lightning.
