10 Horror Movies That Could Have Ended After 10 Minutes

7. The Descent

The Visit
Lionsgate

Spelunking is a terrifying thought to most people at the best of times. Dark, cramped, and no way to call for help if you get stuck, all equal a hobby for only the most hardened thrill seekers and adrenaline junkies.

Throw a group of feral, flesh-eating creatures in to the mix and you end up with The Descent. It's a relatively low budget flick but it was received positively by critics and fans at the time of release. It follows a group of five friends reuniting and trying to rekindle their friendship after a car crash kills protagonist Sarah's family, driving them apart.

Juno is leading the group through a cave system when the passage collapses behind them and traps them inside. No big deal, right? Juno will have planned this carefully, mapped out the cave system, and let others know where the group will be, surely? Nope. Juno admits the cave system is unexplored and in fact a completely different one from the one they had planned to explore. Kiss goodbye to any hopes of rekindling that friendship now.

As if the obvious needs to be pointed out, why didn't Juno and the group stick to the planned cave system? Thrill seekers or not, there isn't any excuse for lying to your friends in such a grotesque manner and abandoning the cave system that's (probably) absent of any cannibalistic humanoids.

Craig Pollock hasn't written a bio just yet, but if they had... it would appear here.
