10 Horror Movies That Could Have Ended After 10 Minutes
8. Saw
You could spend hours trying to detangle the interwoven plot threads found throughout the Saw franchise and all you'd have for your efforts would be a headache worse than if John Kramer had strapped one of his signature reverse beartraps on to you.
The franchise now spans nine films, and each has more complex and elaborate traps than the last. With each sequel, the story of the Jigsaw Killer has also grown more intricate, with constant call-backs to previous films, characters joining Kramer's endless quest, and enough plot twists to make your head spin.
The franchise seems to have forgotten its humble beginnings of two men chained up in a dingy bathroom with just a hacksaw between them. The first film is regarded as the best but that doesn't mean it's without its issues. For one, John Kramer. Despite his gruesome methods, he always gives his victims a clear goal. An opportunity to sacrifice in order to save their own life. Dr. Gordon's goal is to kill Adam within a certain timeframe or he's left to die and his family will be killed.
The issue that bugs fans to this day is what was Adam's goal? All he is told is rather than stay in the room is "do something about it". It's unfortunate for Adam that Kramer couldn't give him clear cut rules for him to follow because, who knows? Maybe he'd have followed them and be home free in time for dinner.
There's also the issue of him flushing away his key to freedom, but flashbacks shown in Saw 3 make it clear that this is down to Amanda's sloppy handiwork, something Kramer wasn't guilty of. Maybe if Amanda had also taken a bit more care, Adam would have retrieved the key and the entire movie could have been avoided.
