Wishmaster came into existence as a schlocky, B-Movie, well aware of what it wanted to be, and nothing more. Boasting a score of horror cameos including Angus Scrimm, Robert Englund, Tony Todd, and Kane Hodder, the film portrayed a malevolent Djinn who was used in essence as a modern-day monkey's paw: granting wishes with a horrible twist in an effort to unleash the rest of his kind upon the world.

With only a budget of $5 million at the time, Wishmaster's effects left something to be desired. A modern update could give this film the dark veneered it desperately needed. Furthermore, an injection into the special effects budget could really let a team of creative minds run wild with the near limitless opportunities an entity like the Djinn can provide.

Mixing the inevitability of Final Destination with the ambiguity of Hellraiser, Wishmaster could be so much more than its humble origins, with protaganists forced to rely on cunning and intelligence to outwit this entity that can uses every word they speak as a weapon against them.
