10 Horror Movies That Flopped Hard In 2023

5. Infinity Pool

Brandon Cronenberg has proven himself to be just as fierce a filmmaker as his father, the legendary David Cronenberg, with such work as Antiviral and Possessor. And his most recent feature, Infinity Pool, has such a perfect blend of psychological horror and twisted sci-fi, that you'd swear it was made by his dear old dad.

Unfortunately, great films don't always translate into great box office (especially when competing against the billion-dollar maker, Avatar: The Way of Water). Infinity Pool opened in ninth place, behind films like Plane, Puss In Boots: The Last Wish, and A Man Called Otto. Even the Bollywood blockbuster, Pathaan ranked higher, despite having a much smaller theatrical release outside of India.

One week after its release, Infinity Pool was out of the box office top 10, only earning $5 million.

To Brandon Cronenberg's credit, Infinity Pool is the most successful movie of his career. On top of that, it outgrossed his father's last feature, Crimes of the Future. Sadly, these observations don't change the fact Infinity Pool was a commercial bomb.
