10 Horror Movies That Flopped Hard In 2023

3. Consecration

In Consecration, a doctor called Grace is summoned to an isolated convent after her priest brother seemingly took his own life. When she discovers her sibling was involved in a murder investigation prior to his death, she instantly suspects foul play.

Consecration has all the right materials to cook up a solid horror flick. It has a captivating premise, a top-notch lead, and a few decent scares.

Sadly, it never seems to come together. The narrative structure is unnecessarily confusing, the twist is predictable, and the story is never as intriguing as it arguably should be. Jena Malone and Danny Huston do their best to elevate the wafer-thin material, but it's not enough to salvage it.

It's genuinely shocking how badly Consecration turned out since the director, Christopher Smith, has a knack for imaginative horror.

Due to the negative reception, it will not come as a shock to learn Consecration didn't do well at the box office, only earning half a mil domestically. Although it faired better internationally, it only made $2 million in total.
