10 Horror Movies That Forced You To Answer Impossible Questions

3. Would You Take Part In The Purge, And If So, How? - The Purge

The Purge franchise may be wildly uneven, but there's no denying the provocative nature of its delicious premise, offering a ton of moral food-for-thought.

On annual Purge Night, all crimes, including murder, are legal for 12 hours, and so audiences are nudged to consider whether they would be compelled to rob, kill, and so on under the umbrella of legality, or simply lock down for the night and hope for the best.

It's easy to say that most civilised folk would surely not participate - or, in the very least, not actually kill people - but it's also fair to say that many, many people's morality is defined strictly by what's legal.

And so, with prohibitions temporarily lifted, we may not all be as noble as we really think.

That's not to say we'd all start murdering our worst enemies, but looting expensive stores, smashing open ATMs, and so on?

It's far more likely, even if the sheer act of being outside on Purge Night is a massive, massive risk, and would probably deter many from participating.

It's perhaps more probable that white collar crime would flourish, with hacking, online theft, and stock market manipulation running rife for those 12 hours.

Even so, if a Purge happened for real, don't be surprised if you learned some unsavoury things about your friends and family you wished you never did.
