10 Horror Movies That Gave Fans EXACTLY What They Wanted (And They Hated It)

1. The Alien Action Finally Gets To Earth, But Absolutely Sucks

Alien Vs Predator
Fox

Fans of the Alien franchise had been waiting since 1992 to see the series' otherworldly creatures carry out acts of chaos and carnage on Earth. But by the time that eventually happened in 2004, those same fans were left wishing this had remained a pipedream.

Why 1992, you may ask? Well, whilst some had hoped to see Xenomorphs on mankind's home planet prior to that point, it was outright stated to us in a '92 teaser trailer for Alien 3 than the action was heading to Earth.

Of course, that third Alien picture is one famed for the plethora of problems it had throughout production. As such, the initial plan was indeed for Alien 3 to bring Ripley and Co. to Earth, but that was one of many things that changed by the time the film was released.

In 2004, the Alien franchise finally made its way to our planet, and it also brought another heavy-hitting franchise with it for Paul W.S. Anderson's Alien vs. Predator.

Here, terminally-ill Charles Weyland (Lance Henriksen) is desperate to discover a pyramid that lies 1,000 ft under the surface of an island near Antarctica. Unbeknownst to Weyland and his team, they wind up in the middle of a hunting ritual that takes every 100 years between Predators and Xenomorphs.

The film was dumb, boring, and did nothing but tarnish the legacy of both franchises. Still, 20th Century Fox managed to outdo the stink of Alien vs. Predator by somehow making 2007's Alien vs. Predator: Requiem even more dumb, boring and legacy-tarnishing.
