10 Horror Movies That Go Totally Insane At The End

Adam MacDonald’s Backcountry sees Alex (Jeff Roop) and his girlfriend Jenn (Missy Peregrym) travel to a national park for a weekend of camping.

Despite claiming to know the area well, Alex nevertheless manages to get the pair lost when he takes them off the main trail in search of a waterfall. Moreover, with no map or phone, the couple are completely stranded.

This flick plays out like a survival thriller for the first hour where the tension comes from the simmering conflict between the protagonists. Their relationship was already in trouble before they entered the wilderness, with things only getting worse for them the moment Alex refuses to take a map from the park ranger.

Most worrying of all are signs that a bear is somewhere in the area. Although it takes some time for the animal to appear on screen, its presence is felt with every snapping twig heard in the distance.

It’s when the bear claws its way into the campers’ tent in the final 30 minutes where things become intense, with the ending exploding into a ferociously violent climax as Jenn flees for her life.

Audiences will want to think twice about going camping after sitting through this unexpectedly grizzly ending.
