10 Horror Movies That Had TWO Incredible Villains

4. Herbert West & Dr. Carl Hill - Re-Animator

The Loved Ones
Empire International Pictures

Stuart Gordon's delirious horror-comedy classic Re-Animator centers around medical student Herbert West (Jeffrey Combs), who has developed a reagent capable of bringing the dead back to life - well, sort of.

While West's experiments begin curiously enough, he eventually goes the mad scientist route, refusing to stop even when the reagent turns humans into zombies, and is compelled to kill to keep testing out the compound.

But Herbert's at least still likeable enough to serve as the franchise figurehead - in large part because his victims tend to suck - whereas the movie's true loathe-worthy bad guy is Dr. Carl Hill (David Gale), who attempts to blackmail West into letting him take credit for his research.

More to the point, once Herbert kills Hill and reanimates him, Hill manifests the ability to telepathically control other reanimated corpses, and in his worst act sexually assaults Megan Halsey (Barbara Crampton).

West and Hill are ultimately two sides of the same a**hole coin - though Herbert's evidently the far more likeable of the pair.
