10 Horror Movies That Judge You For Watching
1. The Devil's Chair
Cult British horror film The Devil's Chair revolves around a man, Nick West (Andrew Howard), facing off against the torturous, seemingly supernatural chair which killed his lover at the start of the movie.
The film is filled with Nick's sardonic voiceover narration, which smashes the fourth wall to pieces in the film's third act when the titular chair is used once again and all hell breaks loose.
Nick's voiceover suddenly turns to address the viewer, seemingly questioning their own choice of viewing and even the quality of the movie itself:
"As you can see, it all got a bit silly at this point. Girl with her puppies out. Demon. Old banana in pajamas. Is this what I promised you? Are we pr*ck teasing you enough? Are you full up? Is this what you came here to see, o' my brothers? My gift! To you! Look at this poorly written, badly acted bulls**! Is there any truth in this B-movie banality? No. No! There is no truth my friends! Believe no one. Believe nothing.
I'll tell you what party people, you geeks and freaks, you blood thirsty morons. F**k you. Bring on the red parade! Get off me old man. I am not so old in this place. So, are there any pulses in the house? You deadbeat, midnight freak, torture porn, gore whores. I know what you're looking for. So have it, take it, fare thee well, and f**k you very much!"
Here is a gonzo horror movie flying wildly off the rails and criticising the audience for even daring to be a part of it. It's totally tongue-in-cheek, of course, but still might give audience members a moment for pause as they consider what the hell they're watching.
