10 Horror Movies That Teased A Sequel Which Never Happened
9. Truth Or Dare
There's something incredibly sinister about taking a subject as innocent as a children's game and bringing it into the world of horror. Squid Game did it, Would You Rather did it, and Ready or Not did it. Then there is Truth or Dare.
Like Would you Rather, it's not a huge leap to take the concept and twist it, as Jeff Wadlow did in 2018, and the fact that there hasn't been a sequel eight years later is quite surprising.
It was commercially a resounding success, bringing in $95 million against a paltry budget of just $3.5 million, meaning it recouped that initial fee approximately 27 times. Blumhouse certainly hasn't been averse to producing sequels, and there was an obvious set up for a further story when the core group were told they must bring more people into the game.
There was a second story written that would have seen the actors playing themselves forced into the same game after the premiere of Truth or Dare in what would have been an incredibly meta follow-up. The COVID-19 pandemic ultimately killed the project which, ironically, would have had little or nothing to do with actual tease at the end of the first one.
