10 Horror Movies That Teased A Sequel Which Never Happened

8. My Bloody Valentine

Arguably as the horror genre was in danger of becoming stale and formulaic, My Bloody Valentine managed to include several aspects you'd expect from an unoriginal cookie cutter slasher flick, but still with enough to separate itself from the pack.

The small town being haunted by a serial killer who strikes at a particular time of year with a signature weapon all sounds very familiar, but there were no camp sites, dorm rooms, high schools, or teenagers in sight, and some of the kills actually felt unique and innovative.

As with the likes of Halloween and Friday the 13th, My Bloody Valentine certainly could have gone down the route of sequel after sequel, particularly after the killer, Axel (Neil Affleck), escaped and vowed to return. Before the reboot in 2009, there were indeed plans for a return of Valentine Bluffs that were ultimately put on ice due to creative differences.

According to director George Mihalka, who was initially on board with the idea for a sequel, the producer kept pushing to take the series more towards the slasher clichés in the form of good looking teenagers and so forth. That wasn't what the director wanted, as he felt it was never meant to conform to what was typically expected of the era.
