10 Horror Movies That Tricked You Into Rooting For The Monster
1. Alien Vs. Predator
Predators may be among the genre's most popular monsters, but make no mistake, they're absolutely savage beasts you'd never want to be facing off against.
And so, Paul W.S. Anderson's original Alien vs. Predator movie actually convinced audiences to actively cheer on the Predator by reiterating the one thing all sci-fi fans know to be true - the Xenomorphs are just way, way worse.
While the Predator at least has a sense of honour and generally won't attack unarmed folk, the Xeno doesn't discriminate with who it kills, driven only by its nature to kill anything that might apparently pose a threat to it.
By the time we reach the ending, human protagonist Lex (Sanaa Lathan) even teams up with one of the Predators, Scar, to prevent the Xenomorphs from escaping and running riot on Earth's surface.
In this case, the Predators were the lesser of two "evils," if you like, even if they're still tenaciously dangerous extraterrestrial interlopers who typically come to Earth to hunt humans.
