10 Horror Movies That Were Way Weirder Than Advertised

2. Jug Face

Many viewers probably assumed that they were in for an odd ride with a film titled "Jug Face". It's a testament to just how batsh*t Looney Tunes wild this outing is that said assumption does precisely nothing to adequately prepare anyone watching for the strangeness of the film's events.

Jug Face follows an isolated community that worships a pit possessing healing powers. Regrettably, said powers come at a cost; human sacrifices are required to satiate the creature inhabiting the mysterious hole. The sacrifices are selected by Sean Bridger's Dawai, who sculpts face-shaped jugs. Whichever member of the community is depicted by the latest jug is chosen as the unfortunate offering on that occasion.

All of this wackiness was hinted at in trailers for the 2013 fright flick but this does little to prepare audiences for the shocking violence and incestuous central narrative thread that Chad Crawford Kinkle's offering brings to the table.

Boasting electric performances and notably haunting imagery, Jug Face is a triumph of a low-budget horror picture. It's also the quintessential example of a movie so weird that no form of advertisement or promotional material can truly ready viewers for what they are about to witness.
