It's not just wild animals that humans have a tough time going up against. It turns out that we're rather terrible at surviving harsh weather conditions too. No film is this better highlighted in than 2010 indie horror Frozen.

Helmed by genre filmmaker Adam Green, this frosty film sees a group of skiers become stranded on a chairlift for an entire weekend. With nobody around to help them, they're forced to make life-or-death decisions as a blizzard rolls in.

Stuck on a chair suspended over 50 feet in the air, the skiers are at the complete mercy of the elements. Frostbite and exhaustion soon set in, with the only way down being a perilous drop to the ground below.

And if the biting temperatures wasn't enough of a threat, the stakes are raised further when a pack of hungry wolves begin to prowl below.

What makes Frozen's central premise so unnerving is that it could feasibly happen in real life. Green played into these real-life fears by making his film as realistic as possible. For example, the film was shot entirely on location. The actors really did film their scenes on rickety chairlift in the freezing cold.
