10 Horror Movies That Will Make You Hate Nature

9. Eight Legged Freaks (2002)

Black Sheep
Warner Bros. Pictures

When a collection of spiders is exposed to toxic waste, the arachnids begin to wreak havoc on a small town as they grow both in size and appetite.

It's therefore up to a small number of the townsfolk (featuring a cast which includes Scarlett Johansson and David Arquette) to face off against the creatures as their town is overrun.

Intended to resemble the incredibly cheesy creature features of the 1950s, this early 2000s flick is intentionally campy in tone. Though the overtly cartoonish humour makes for an enjoyably bizarre horror-comedy outing, Eight Legged Freaks is nevertheless an arachnophobe's worst fears realised, and it's not hard to see why.

Whether it's the image of a helpless victim being cocooned in a giant web awaiting to be eaten alive or another ambushed from below by a trapdoor spider, this film epitomises the myriad of reasons why spiders are so ubiquitously loathed.

Spiders are one of the most horrific things to have ever spawned from nature. And no matter how comedic or cheap a film about them may be, it will never take away the intrinsic terror of these eight-legged horrors.
