10 Horror Movies Too Scary To Finish Watching
2. Threads (1984)
There's one word that describes this movie best, and that's gruelling. It's the kind of film that will lead you down a spiralling path of nihilism, despair and melancholy. You'll come out of it feeling completely traumatised, but that's only if you're brave enough to finish it in the first place.
This BBC TV movie depicts the events after a fictional nuclear attack on the United Kingdom. It shows as the town of Sheffield is devastated by an atomic bomb, and the survivors struggle to pull themselves together and make it out of the chaos, to horrifying and emotionally harrowing effects.
Threads really does not pull its punches, as it's a hypnotically visceral depiction of real-life horrors. It throws imagery your way that acts as a warning sign of the ruination of nuclear war, with the classic 80s BBC presentation giving it an almost documentary-like aesthetic.
The sad truth of the modern world is that the threat of nuclear annihilation is always on the cards. Threads taps into that petrifying reality in a way that will leave you fear-stricken and forever afraid. So, good luck finishing this one.
