10 Horror Movies Where Everyone Dies
2. The Cabin In The Woods
On paper, Cabin in the Woods sounded like another typical slasher/supernatural spookfest that paled in comparison to the likes of Evil Dead and Friday the 13th. However, in typical fashion of Avengers aficionado Joss Whedon, the film was instead a perfect blend of its main genre, in this horror, and comedy.
As expected, the story follows a group who rent a cabin in the woods (shocking!), who discover several artifacts in the basement, in homage to Evil Dead. Its revealed that the entire scenario is being controlled by evil(ish) scientists who make every single horror movie to appease an ancient god. The ridiculous decisions and stereotypes are all explained as carefully planned and its truly hilarious to see these cheesy situations be explained by a higher power.
Eventually, all but final girl “virgin” Dana and pothead Marty are left, following such spectacular deaths as post-Thor Chris Hemsworth crashing his motorbike into an invisible forcefield. They discover the scientists’ secret base and let every creature they control out and a symphony of violence ensues.
It's revealed that, to save humanity, Dana must kill Marty. Dana instead decides to share a blunt with Marty as a hellish creature rises from the ground and crushes the facility and the cabin, bringing not only their demise but likely the planet’s.
