10 Horror Movies Where The Reshoots Were Obvious
1. Cursed
The biggest tell that Wes Craven's 2005 werewolf movie Cursed had been put through the post-production wringer was the fact that Craven seemed incapable of producing such a wretched, thrown-together piece of work.
Over a two-year period, Cursed was re-written and re-shot so extensively that numerous cast members - including Skeet Ulrich, Mandy Moore, Omar Epps, Illeana Douglas, Heather Langenkamp, Scott Foley, Robert Forster, and Corey Feldman - were cut out of the movie entirely.
By the time it finally hit screens, the budget had ballooned to $75 million and the cast had been called back for three rounds of reshoots, bringing the total number of shooting days up to 100, a number typically only reserved for larger-scale tentpole films.
But the biggest tell that Cursed had been messed with? It was re-edited for a PG-13 rating from an originally contractually obligated R, and it's just tough to imagine a director of Craven's repute ever voluntarily shooting a horror movie for PG-13.
Many members of the cast, most vocally Jesse Eisenberg, insist the original version of the film was far smarter and more interesting, as expected with Scream writer Kevin Williamson penning the script.
The theatrical release meanwhile just feels like the anonymous work of a hack, and not something Craven would ever produce if left to his own devices.
