Fede Alvarez’s second feature film since the 2013 Evil Dead follows three burglars as they try to escape the home of a psychotic blind man.

In fairness to him, they shouldn’t have tried to burglarize his house; in fairness to them, they didn’t deserve to be met with the antics of this bloke.

After murdering one of the three intruders, the homeowner (Nordstrom) goes on to hunt down the remaining two. He is incredibly unhappy, however, when they discover the woman he had locked in the basement, pregnant with his child. Yes, that’s a sub-plot!

Nordstrom manages to kill the second intruder but the third (Rocky) breaks free and escapes after bonking him over the head with a metal bar. Rocky shoves Nordstrom into the basement, where, in the process of the fall, his gun fires and shoots him in the side.

After Rocky and her younger sister board a train to leave the city, they see that Nordstom is recovering in hospital: a fall, a spot of blunt force trauma and also a shot to the side can’t take this guy down. The film is about a home invasion and somehow the homeowner is still the villain, and unfortunately he survives this film to star again in the upcoming sequel.
