10 Horror Movies Where You Don't See The Monster Until The End

9. Deadly Friend

The Woman
Warner Bros.

In an attempt to diversify his output, Wes Craven made Deadly Friend, a largely science-fiction film with more focus on characters and plot than blood and guts. Unfortunately, when the first cut was shown to test audiences, they hated it, so Wes caved and gave the people what they wanted.

This resulted in the cinematic version of Deadly Friend, which was released in 1986. The story was still the same - a young man implants a robotic brain into the body of his dead neighbour, only for the revived girl to freak out and go on a rampage - but this cut of the movie was a lot more similar to Craven's previous work.

At the end of the film, after the monster has seemingly been defeated, its creator, Paul, looks down at the "dead" body of his subject, Samantha. Sadly for this wannabe Frankenstein, the robot inside Samantha, BB, isn't deceased at all, and instead emerges from her face in a bloody mess.

The true face of the villain in Deadly Friend is only visible for a few minutes, but those are a few minutes nobody will be forgetting any time soon.
