10 Horror Movies With Amazing Concepts But TERRIBLE Execution
6. Alien Vs. Predator
"Whoever wins, we lose" was the perfect tagline for Paul W.S. Anderson's much-hyped clash between two of the most iconic horror characters in the genre's history, given that AvP ended up falling far short of the mark.
Now, nobody needed an Alien vs. Predator movie to be on par with the stronger entries in each creature's respective franchises, but it shouldn't have been too tough to deliver a level of visceral brutality in the same ballpark.
And so, AvP whiffed it right out of the gate with its woefully tame PG-13 rating, ensuring there's desperately little to savour here on the violence front.
Though Anderson serves up some solid visuals otherwise, many fans also loathed the decision to have the main Predator team up with human protagonist Lex (Sanaa Lathan) to take on the Xenomorph Queen, as resulted in a handful of unintentionally comical moments.
In the very least it's better than sequel AvP: Requiem - which, ironically, did have an R rating - and James Cameron's a fan of it, so there's that.
