10 Horror Movies You Only Ever Watch Once
9. The Exorcist
A timeless, masterpiece of a movie, the original Exorcist is one of those horror films that everyone has to watch at least once during their lives. A truly groundbreaking moment in cinema's history for its depiction of religion, pushing the boundaries on what could be shown to audiences around the world on the big screen, and forcing horror movies into the mainstream's conversation, its impact is pretty hard to be overstated.
However, once someone has finished with The Exorcist, there's actually very little reason to return to it unless someone is an absolute fanatic of the film. This is mainly down to the plot, which doesn't really extend much further from the typical trope of 'little girl in a horror film becomes possessed' throughout its runtime.
The influence The Exorcist had on modern franchises such as Insidious or The Conjuring is pretty remarkable, and all the accolades for the effects and performances are obviously more than justified, but that doesn't mean this is a film layered with tiny details and depth that only a second, third or fourth viewing will unlock however.
