10 Horror Movies You Only Ever Watch Once

3. Audition

Easily one the most infamous and unsettling horror films to have come out of Japan, Audition is a pleasant enough rom-com turned horrific torture porn flick that would go on to influence the likes of Hostel and Escape Room.

The story of a middle aged man who organises a reasonably cute way of having women audition to be his partner, the film establishes itself as horror's most misleading title by spending the first half of its runtime posing as an innocent tale of two would-be lovers courting eachother. That completely flips in an instant however when this seemingly innocent girl, Asami, reveals herself to be one of the most sadistic serial killers going.

It's certainly a clever twist, and one that most horror fans are sure to enjoy, but once Audition goes into full swing there's really no brakes for how brutal this film gets. Watching Asami vomit into a dog bowl and the sight of a dismembered man sticking his face into it is a particular highlight, but the film really became infamous for its scenes of this killer slicing off entire limbs with just a small bit of wire.

Again clever twist and all, but once everything's out in the open and unfolded, there's not a whole lot of value in watching Asami and her dismembering antics again.
