10 Horror Movies You Won't Believe Are Coming Out
9. The Naughty List of Mr. Scrooge
Even with low-budget horror filmmakers plundering any accessible IP in the public domain these days - more of which we'll be discussing later - who ever expected somebody to make a horror film centred around Charles Dickens' iconic miser Ebenezer Scrooge?
In The Naughty List of Mr. Scrooge, A Christmas Carol's protagonist is reimagined as a sadistic murderer - or rather, the film's killer is someone wearing a Scrooge mask and getup.
The totally bizarre trailer makes it abundantly clear the film is cribbing heavily from last year's Eli Roth-directed holiday hit Thanksgiving, albeit subbing out the John Carver mask and Thanksgiving setting for Scrooge and Christmas.
Even accepting that Scrooge's existence predates most of the public domain characters being repurposed into slasher villains these days, it's still tough to make sense of how someone came up with such a peculiar idea, not to mention got it funded and filmed for release.
