10 Horror Remakes You Didn’t Know Were Coming In 2019

2. The Blob

The Original: Camp B-movie classic The Blob first came out in 1958 and starred a fresh-faced Steve McQueen as a teen trying to save his small town from the titular villain – a gelatinous, amoeba-like alien lifeform freshly arrived from outer space with a penchant for absorbing and devouring earthlings.

It already got the remake treatment back in 1988 with a mostly unnecessary movie that at least had one thing going for it – a more believably scary Blob.

The Remake: Originally in the hands of Rob Zombie (which would’ve been insane), the directorial reins were passed over to Con Air director Simon West in 2015 who promised to fully exploit all that modern CGI has to offer to give us an even scarier, more realistic Blob this time around. Or at least as realistic as a fictional intergalactic glob can be, anyway.

However, it’s been all quite on the western front since Samuel L. Jackson kind of confirmed he’d be starring in the re-remake early last year. We can only hope West and Jackson are too busy behind the scenes working out how to best slip in a line about there being too many mother-f**king blobs invading this mother-f**king planet to update us.
