10 Horror Trailer Scenes That Were Cut From The Film

3. The Deer Skeleton - Get Out

Although Get Out's trailer has a smorgasbord of creepy images, one that stands out is the deer skeleton roaring at Chris. Not only is this a frightening visual in its own right, viewers tend to remember the ghostly buck since it's one of the last shots in the teaser. Because the skeleton reappears at the title-reveal at the end, many assumed this paranormal creature would be a defining attribute in the film.

But that wasn't the case, since the spooky deer never showed up. Originally, Chris was going to encounter the apparition after the Armitage family sent him to The Sunken Place.

While looking at the footage during post-production, director, Jordan Peele, thought the ghostly entity didn't look convincing, compelling him to scrap it.

Even if this supernatural beast looked legit, Peele made the right move, since the scene doesn't drive the plot in anyway. All it does is serve as a cheap jump-scare. Because Get Out is a truly frightening thriller, it doesn't need to rely on cheap scare tactics, which is why it works better without this sequence.

However, Peele decided to put this clip in the trailer, knowing that a screaming skeletal deer would entice viewers to check the movie out.
