10 Horror Trailer Scenes That Were Cut From The Film

2. Eye Stab - Slender Man

Starting out as a creepy pasta meme, Slender Man quickly became a pop cultural icon. After skyrocketing in popularity seemingly overnight, it was no surprise when a film adaptation based on Slender Man was greenlit in 2017.

But after two disturbed teenagers nearly murdered their friend in a vain attempt to pacify this fictional figure, many people thought making a movie about Slender Man was in poor taste.

Due to the backlash, Sony took it upon themselves to have multiple violent scenes removed. Although the trailer shows Chloe gouging her eye out with a scalpel in class, this scene got the chop. The scene depicting Katie holding her freshly ripped off tongue was also taken out.

Even though you can understand why the studio got cold feet, axing these moments led to a ton of plotholes. Because the scene of Chloe stabbing herself was removed, the character just disappears, without her story arc being resolved.

Despite the fact Sony omitted scenes like this to avoid criticism, it caused the film to receive more criticism! Ironically, Slender Man would've fared better if these grisly sequences were left in.
