Warner Bros. can't catch a break, can they?

Whilst Disney have had a gargantuan success with the Marvel Cinematic Universe and Warner's own DC equivalent has gotten off to a shaky start, there's also the little matter of the latter's own version of The Jungle Book, which seems to have come about as a sheer coincidence and is set to hit cinemas in 2018.

Directed by Andy Serkis (who will also play Baloo), this version of The Jungle Book looks poised to be a darker interpretation; one closer to Rudyard Kipling's source material. But if it lacks the cheer and the joy of Disney's version - not to mention the fact that it simply isn't a Disney authorised version - it could spell disaster for Warner Bros.

When two similar movies compete with one another in this fashion, there is almost always a loser; audiences invest in one movie - usually the one that comes out first - and turn their noses up at the other. Serkis' movie will probably be good, but given the timing - and the success of the Disney version - there may be trouble ahead.
