10 Huge Mistakes In Marvel's Cinematic Universe

2. Characterisation (Thor)

Thor Aside from the fact that the plot is incredibly thin, there are plenty of issues with Thor - the disconnect between Asgard and Earth is never satisfyingly realised for me, and as I've already said, the Jane Foster-Thor romance is just terrible. There's one thing that really strikes me as disappointing, though, and that's the characterisation of Thor himself; every other Marvel hero can be related to in one way or another, yet not Thor. Though those of us trying to seek familial approval might get a giggle out of it, I just never cared about whether Thor became King or not. The film didn't rouse the emotions like so many other Marvel films (namely Spider-Man), and just feels cold and disconnected. Perhaps that's the point given that Thor is an alien, but it doesn't exactly make for the most gratifying viewing experience.
