10 Huge Movie Deaths That Totally Fell Flat

8. Trinity - The Matrix Revolutions

When Trinity (Carrie-Anne Moss) was brought back from death by Neo (Keanu Reeves) in The Matrix Reloaded, it was a genuinely triumphant, fist-pumping moment, albeit one which seemingly ensured Trinity was safe from dying again in the third movie, The Matrix Revolutions.

Oh, how wrong we were.

While escaping a fleet of the machines outside the Machine City, Neo and Trinity crash their ship into a building, causing Trinity to be impaled by a piece of rebar.

The excruciating five minutes that follow see Trinity deliver an interminable death monologue where she tells a blinded Neo that she's dying, prompting him to give the unintentionally comical response of "Oh, no."

The scene goes on forever, by which point even the most die-hard Matrix fan might be wishing Trin would just get the dying over with. Too harsh?

Either way, Carrie-Anne Moss certainly gives it her dramatic all, even if Trinity's death just didn't hit nearly as hard the second time around.

And given that it didn't stick this time either, per her revival in The Matrix Resurrections, it has even less emotional resonance in retrospect.
