10 Huge Movies Already Confirmed For 2020 And Beyond

4. The Avatar Sequels

Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol 3
20th Century Fox

Release Dates: December 2020, 2021, 2024, 2025

Currently the highest-grossing movie of all time, 2009's Avatar was a phenomenal success that nobody saw coming.

Since its release, the actual quality of the film has been hotly debated, but even if it was the worst movie ever made (it's not), the amount of cash it banked has always guaranteed a sequel would be made.

But, ever a man of excess, director James Cameron doesn't just want one followup to his smash-hit - he wants four.

With release dates set for between 2020 and 2025, all four movies are currently being shot back-to-back, with Cameron said to be shooting motion-capture scenes underwater - a feat never before accomplished in the history of cinema.

The complex nature of the shoot is what's taken these sequels so long to get off the ground, with Cameron and his team forced to create brand-new technology to make certain shots possible.

The sequels will see players like Jake Sully and the villainous Colonel Quaritch return, and will reportedly explore Pandora from top-to-bottom. Basically, if you disliked Avatar, you'll probably dislike these too, but fans of the original should be prepared to fall in love with this universe all over again.
