10 Huge Movies That Were Instantly Forgotten

9. Cowboys & Aliens

Cowboys and Aliens 2

On paper, 2011's Cowboys & Aliens should've been a goddamn blast. Daniel Craig and Harrison Ford playing a cowboy duo forced to team up to take on aliens, with Jon Favreau directing? This ticked all the boxes for a fun time.

And yet, despite so much going for it, Cowboys & Aliens is a weirdly dry, personality-devoid blockbuster which likely suffered from the army of five screenwriters working on its script.

But even the action is lackluster, in turn sealing the movie's fate and ensuring it barely recouped its $163 million budget at the box office.

Favreau himself talked about the film's failure in 2013, suggesting that its playful title sold it as a comedy when, in fact, it was more of a straight-faced sci-fi Western.

And so, once word-of-mouth spread about the lack of comedy and, well, how bloody boring the film is, its fate was sealed - condemned to the cinematic abyss forever more.
