10 Huge Problems You Consciously Ignore Because The Film Is So Good

6. Let The Right One In - Child Nudity

The Swedish original was a vampire film just before vampire films got everywhere. It was also a good vampire film before nearly all vampire films turned bad. Released in 2008, it is a real gem which combines convincing horror with a coming of age story. The bleak winter backdrop of a small industrial town provides the perfect setting for some chilling moments, while the relationship between the 11 year old bully-victim Oskar and 12 year old vampire Eli is both moving and disturbing. On the subject of disturbing though, the film is almost ruined by one random bit of child nudity, when Oskar sees Eli undressing. The scene is intended to convey a sexual awakening in Oskar, or at least signposts his first awkward sexual encounter. Instead it results in a seriously uncomfortable moment for audiences. This is actually a moment which occasionally seems too difficult to ignore. Some viewers have commented how they struggled to watch the film because that particular moment is so jarring.
