10 Huge Questions That Undermine Back To The Future

7. Is The Film Unintentionally Racist?

What? Back to the Future? That classic, family-friendly, time-travel adventure with Michael J Fox? Look at Marty's first big mistake in 1955: he gives Goldie the idea of running for mayor. And later on, he gives Chuck Berry the idea for rock and roll. So two black characters in this film have had their big contributions to society suggested to them by a white man? Let's hope that was unintentional, at least. More to the point, why is Marvin Berry so keen on performing a second song with Marty, given how badly he messes up 'Earth Angel'? Chuck really was the one in the family with an ear for musical talent, wasn't he?
