10 Huge Recent Movie Moments That Fell Totally Flat
1. Elly Is Agent Argylle - Argylle
The marketing for Matthew Vaughn's Argylle was centered almost entirely around the mysterious identity of the titular secret agent.
But sadly Vaughn took the most blindly obvious and most boring route possible, by revealing that author protagonist Elly Conway (Bryce Dallas Howard) is actually Argylle herself.
Or more to the point, Elly is an agent by the name of Rachel Kylle, as in R. Kylle = Argylle, get it? As it turns out, she was captured, brainwashed, and given a new identity, with the repressed memories of her former life seeping out into her books.
Yawn. It didn't help, of course, that this twist was freely given away in a synopsis for the film posted online years before it came out, and while there was sure potential in casting Bryce Dallas Howard as a kick ass amnesiac secret agent, the execution just wasn't there, like, at all.
