Disney has a thing about parents in its animated movies, in that they don’t tend to stick around for too long. Not both of them, at least. Elsa and Anna are two such characters whose childhoods were rocked by the untimely deaths of their parents.

All the information audiences were really given during Frozen was that King Agnarr and Queen Iduna were killed in a shipwreck. The vague nature of the accident held potential links to another shipwreck in the Disney catalogue, with fans going on to think that the two instances in Frozen and at the beginning of Tarzan were one and the same.

Iduna would have been pregnant throughout the voyage, whether knowingly or unknowingly, and baby Tarzan would have been born on the ship. They would then crash, kicking off the events of Tarzan, and meaning that the titular character was Elsa and Anna’s long-lost brother. However, more details about the King and Queen of Arendelle’s journey were given six years later upon Frozen 2’s release.

The King and Queen actually sailed the Dark Sea, nowhere near Africa where they would have needed to be for this theory to work, and Elsa was able to use her powers to see that there was no heading into the jungle with a baby boy for them, they died without ever leaving the ship.
