10 Hugely Successful Movies That Amazingly Never Got Sequels

1. Titanic

TitanicBox Office: $2,185,672,302 Ridiculous though it might sound, I am genuinely surprised that, after the enormous box office success of James Cameron's Titanic, a sequel was never churned out. While I would never have expected Cameron to himself have anything to do with it, a movie that exploited everything Cameron had built would surely have been on the cards, dealing with the aftermath of Rose's survival, or something equally needless. Apparently $2 billion is the figure that will finally pacify a studio's interminable greed, as they were seemingly keen to let it lie. That said, there has been an unofficial sequel to Cameron's movie from the mockbuster movie studio The Asylum, aptly called Titanic II, oddly enough starring and directed by the grandson of Dick Van Dyke. Needless to say, the movie was universally panned, and above all other entries on this list, I think we're all glad a "proper" sequel was never churned out to the 2nd highest-grossing movie of all time. Still, it's surprising nobody ever tried. Which lone box office smash surprises you the most? Let us know in the comments below.
