9. Armageddon

armageddon-originalBox Office: $554,600,000 Michael Bay's infamous cheese-fest may not have scored massively well with critics - racking up a mere 39% on Rotten Tomatoes - but it went over a storm with audiences, who appeared to appreciate the spectacle's visual bombast while ably ignoring the rote dialogues and terrible acting. Though two end-of-the-world scenarios in one franchise's continuity is pretty difficult to believe, it's still surprising that the idea of a second Armageddon wasn't more enthusiastically floated around, though given how busy Michael Bay is these days with the Transformers franchise, his Platinum Dunes production company and various other sequels floating around the periphery - namely Bad Boys III - it doesn't seem like this one is ever going to happen. Besides, with Ben Affleck now actually earning esteem as an actor-director, the likelihood is that the only key player willing to return is Liv Tyler. Great...
