10 Hyped 2017 Movies That Will Definitely Disappoint You

3. Power Rangers

Skull Island
Lionsgate

The Hype: Millennials the world over will remember the first few seasons of Power Rangers with a sure fondness, and this glossy $150 million reboot hopes to prey on that nostalgia while also opening the franchise up to a whole new audience. The Rangers are mostly newbies, but Rita, Zordon and Alpha 5 are played by Elizabeth Banks, Bryan Cranston and Bill Hader respectively.

Plus, that first trailer looked surprisingly solid.

Why It Will Disappoint: The death of this film will be if it takes itself too seriously, and the first trailer didn't exactly provide much evidence to refute that fear. Plus, that horrendous Alpha 5 concept art sunk a lot of people's confidence, and with the movie due out in late March, it really feels like it should have a bigger marketing presence now that Rogue One is out of the way.

Whether it succeeds financially or not, this one's such a risk it's sure to leave a lot of people thoroughly underwhelmed, be they fans or newcomers.
