10 Hyped 2017 Movies That Will Definitely Disappoint You

2. Valerian & The City Of A Thousand Planets

The Hype: Luc Besson's first return to big-budget sci-fi since 1997's The Fifth Element, and with a $180 million budget, is by far the most expensive French film ever made. Cast includes Dane DeHaan, John Goodman, Clive Owen, Rutger Hauer and Ethan Hawke.

Why It Will Disappoint: While the trailer actually makes the movie look better-than-expected and the visual effects are pretty damn terrific, this one still has the unmistakable stink of Jupiter Ascending all over it: an ambitious sci-fi flick with a highly questionable script and sure focus on style over substance.

Fans of sci-fi should want giant gambles like this to succeed, but this really just feels like a huge money sink for Besson's production company EuropaCorp.
