10 Hyped Movie Characters (That Did Absolutely Nothing)

9. Lyutsifer Safin - No Time To Die

With No Time To Die marking the end of Daniel Craig's tenure as James Bond, it was important for 007 to go out with a bang. As such, it was imperative the spy franchise's 25th instalment cooked up a terrific story, incredible action sequences, and of course, a masterful villain.

On the surface, No Time To Die's big bad, Lyutsifer Safin (Rami Malek,) is a formidable foe. The movie opens with the scarred terrorist hunting down a little girl, even after being shredded by a barrage of bullets.

Although this prologue gets viewers immediately invested in Safin, he barely appears for the next two hours. When he and Bond finally meet during the climax, Safin comes across as a stock villain. Also, his plan to insert microscopic killer robots into every person on Earth is plain dumb. (Not even a '60s Bond film could get away with a premise that silly.)

Sadly, Malek's Oscar-winning acting chops can't save this badly written character. Because he delivers all his lines in a monotonous tone, his performance is a snooze-fest.

Considering Safin is the one who defeated Blofeld, destroyed SPECTRE, and killed James frickin' Bond, this villain should've been one for the ages.
