After the underwhelming performance of Eternals and the Doctor Strange sequel, the Marvel Cinematic Universe's future didn't seem so prosperous for once.

However, fans were certain Thor: Love and Thunder would turn everything around. Not only would Thor: Ragnarok's director, Taika Waititi helm the project, the sequel would introduce one of the best recent comic book villains, Gorr the God Butcher.

As the cherry on top, the deity killer would be portrayed by Batman himself, Christian Bale. Even if Love and Thunder wasn't great, all signs were pointing to Gorr becoming an iconic baddie in the franchise.

But Gorr wasn't just disappointing - he was embarrassing. Bale does his best, but the Welsh actor can't out-act a bad script.

Although he's meant to be a sympathetic character, Gorr's story arc happens way too fast. One moment, he's devoutly religious, but 30 seconds later, he's set on murdering every god in the universe. Gorr has a couple of poignant moments, but they are regularly interrupted by dumb one-liners and screaming goats.

Also, the so-called God Butcher only kills one god on-screen in the entire movie. As a result, Gorr seems more like a nuisance than a viable threat.
