2. Before The Professor: The Story Of An American Family
This Eddie Murphy remake blew the original completely out of the water, something you seldom see. As much as I connected with the story of Shermans battle against his body image, I think we can all agree that the real meat of this film is the Klump family, all played by Eddie Murphy. Such a wealth of material, just sitting there. I believe a prequel could take this series to a whole new level, both artistically and fiscally. How did the Klumps come to be? How far back does their family name run? Think of how powerful and moving it would be to watch them move to America, or break out of slavery, and then start a family line that endures for over a century.
BEFORE THE PROFESSOR: THE STORY OF AN AMERICAN FAMILY. Were they involved in the civil rights movement? Were there other geniuses in the Klump line? An intellect like Shermans doesnt just come from nowhere. And what caused such obesity in their family? Maybe one of those earlier geniuses discovered something he shouldnt have, and as a result the Klumps were cursed with debilitating weight problems. Obviously, Eddie Murphy would play every single Klump in this movie, all of them over many generations. But heres where Im about to blow your mind. All the other characters? Played by Tyler Perry. Boom. Two massive fan bases, only having to pay two actors. Watch out, James Cameron. Before the Professor: The Story of An American Family is going to knock you right off that moneymaking mountain.
