10 Iconic Batman Comics That Could Inspire Matt Reeves' Batman Trilogy

7. The Joker

Batman Dark Victory
DC Comics

Going all the way back to 1940 for this. Batman #1 provided the first introduction to the Dark Knight’s origin story during the Golden Age. One of the arcs also saw the debut of the Clown Prince of Crime.

The Joker kicks off with a new criminal terrorizing Gotham. A radio announcement resonates across the city’s airwaves as this new scourge publicly announces his intentions of murdering a number of innocent civilians who were at his mercy. This kicks off a scuffle with the other crime bosses who are upset at this newcomer trying to upstage them.

Of course, those poor fools prove no match for the Joker and Batman is forced to act. He along with Robin have several encounters with their greatest foe yet, including one where Robin is almost killed. Ultimately Batman prevails and is able to send Joker to prison…for the time being.

A nice, simple, classic Batman formula. Ideal for a new trilogy.

After battling Galactus and pinning Hulk Hogan in the main event of Wrestlemania, I've taken a break from living in fantasy worlds, to focus on writing about them. I'm a comic book geek, a wrestling mark, a break dancer, and a scientist. One of those things may not be true.
